MONTRÉAL, Oct. 1, 2026 /CNW/ -- CIMA+, one of Canada's largest private consulting engineering firms, announces the appointment of Dennis Burns as Market Leader, Ports and Marine. In this role, he will lead the firm's national market development strategy and strengthen the coordination and visibility of CIMA+'s ports and marine offering across Canada.

The ports and marine sector represents a key market for CIMA+, leveraging the firm's national expertise in addressing complex, multidisciplinary projects. In this new role, Dennis Burns will focus on connecting this expertise nationally, strengthening client relationships and positioning CIMA+ as a strategic partner in the development of major projects.
Since joining CIMA+ in 2016, he has contributed to the development and delivery of major multidisciplinary projects while securing roles in project management, leadership and business development. Prior to joining CIMA+, he spent close to a decade in business development in North America and internationally, working with port authorities, transportation agencies, operators, contractors and other major infrastructure stakeholders.
Dennis Burns' experience includes the major modernization program at Chantier Davie shipyards in Lévis, Québec, a long-term Canadian marine infrastructure program that integrates multiple CIMA+ disciplines and teams.
"Ports and Marine is an established market for CIMA+, with significant opportunities ahead as infrastructure investment continues across Canada. Dennis has already played an important role in advancing our work in this market, building strong client relationships and bringing together diverse skillsets. His new role formally recognizes his industry knowledge and experience, and will further strengthen our national approach, reinforcing CIMA+'s position as a strategic partner for major projects across the country." said Daniel J. Matthews, Regional Executive Vice President, Western Canada at CIMA+.
"Canada's ports and marine infrastructure is evolving in response to changing trade patterns, supply-chain needs, infrastructure renewal, electrification and decarbonization, defence investment, and development in our Northern and Arctic regions. These projects increasingly require diversified expertise and early collaboration among owners, partners and engineering teams." said Dennis Burns, Market Leader, Ports and Marine. "We already have significant ports and marine capabilities across CIMA+. My focus will be on connecting those capabilities nationally, engaging with clients earlier and assembling the right teams to address their evolving needs. Building strong relationships and understanding where our clients and the market are heading will help us deliver greater value to major projects across the country."
