LEXINGTON, Ky., Sept. 11, 2026

LEXINGTON, Ky., Sept. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Kentucky American Water today announced the completion of its water main replacement projects in the North Limestone-Euclid-Fontaine areas of Lexington, a major infrastructure investment that will strengthen water service reliability and support the community's water needs for decades to come. Kentucky American Water thanks the community and its customers for their patience and support throughout the projects.
With Kentucky American Water's work now complete, the City of Lexington will perform final restoration and paving activities in the North Limestone and Fontaine Road areas. At the City's request, Kentucky American Water will complete paving on Euclid Avenue after Sept. 18.
Kentucky American Water's projects replaced aging water infrastructure with modern water mains designed to improve system resiliency, maintain fire safety, reduce the risk of service interruptions and better serve customers throughout the area well into the future.
The work represented a significant investment in infrastructure improvements and required thousands of hours of planning, engineering and construction to complete the projects safely and efficiently. The completed projects deliver important long-term benefits for the community.
"We greatly appreciate the support and cooperation of our customers, businesses, community leaders and everyone who traveled through the area as we completed this essential investment," said Rob Burton, president of Kentucky American Water. "Their patience helped us deliver improvements that will strengthen reliable water service for the community."
Throughout the projects, Kentucky American Water employees and experienced contractors worked safely through challenging conditions to maintain water service and provide access to homes and businesses all while communicating timely project updates and minimizing disruptions when possible.
"Behind every section of pipe installed were employees and contractors who took pride in caring for and improving service for our customers," Burton continued. "These projects represent our commitment to making the ongoing investments necessary to deliver safe, clean, reliable and affordable water service, not only today but for future generations."
In addition to replacing critical infrastructure, the projects:
- Modernized aging sections of the water distribution system.
- Strengthened reliability, fire safety and operational resiliency.
- Reduced the likelihood of future water main breaks.
- Enhanced the utility's ability to serve existing and future customers.
- Represented a significant investment in the community's infrastructure.
"Major infrastructure projects are important investments that we make to maintain the high level of service our customers expect and deserve," Burton said. "We appreciate the community's support and would like to thank all involved as we completed this important work. We look forward to the lasting benefits it will deliver to our customers."
Investing in aging water infrastructure is essential to maintaining the reliable water service customers depend on every day. While projects like these can be disruptive, they are necessary to replace aging infrastructure before problems occur. The company looks forward to continuing its partnership with Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government to deliver future improvements as safely, efficiently and cost-effectively, with the well-being of employees, contractors and the community always remaining a top priority.
