PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes Raises Over $1.2 Million for Veterans and Military Families at 23rd Annual Military Heroes Golf Classic

TYSONS, Va., Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans in their transition from service to success, today announced it raised over $1.2 million to support veterans and military families at the 23rd annual Military Heroes Golf Classic held Monday, Aug. 31.

At a dinner held the night before the Golf Classic, PenFed Credit Union President/CEO and PenFed Foundation CEO James Schenck honored Ed Cody for 25 extraordinary years of service to The PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes as a member of the board of directors. Cody, who also serves as the chairman of the PenFed Credit Union Board, has helped guide the Foundation's work through decades of leadership, financial stewardship and personal commitment to veterans, service members and military families.
"Ed's 25 years of service have helped shape this Foundation and strengthen its future," Schenck said. "His leadership reflects service before self, stewardship with integrity and an unwavering belief that we have a responsibility to stand with those who have stood for our nation. Chairman Cody's 25 years with the Foundation are part of a lifetime of service that began in uniform as an Army lieutenant at Fort Sill and in Vietnam and continued through more than 35 years of federal service. His leadership has supported major Foundation initiatives such as Defender's Lodge, the Afghan Rescue and Resettlement Program, the Veteran Entrepreneur Program and grants benefiting wounded, ill and injured service members. The Foundation has provided more than $55 million in financial support to veterans, active-duty service members and military families.
