Asheville, NC - Sow True Seed invites artists from across the country to apply for its annual Call to Artists, a much anticipated program that celebrates the intersection of art, agriculture, and community. Each year, selected artists help bring Sow True Seed’s seed packets and catalog to life, transforming everyday garden essentials into collectible works of art.

For the 2026 season, Sow True Seed plans to commission artwork for new seed packets and select one artist to create the cover for its upcoming seed catalog. Artists whose work is chosen will see their designs distributed nationwide on seed packets that support home gardeners, seed sovereignty, and sustainable agriculture.

QTBIPOC artists are strongly encouraged to apply, reflecting Sow True Seed’s ongoing commitment to equity, representation, and amplifying diverse creative voices.

Artist Awards and Recognition

Selected packet artists will receive:

• $150 artist payment

• A seed packet featuring their commissioned artwork and name

• Five filled seed packets and ten empty packets of their design

The selected catalog cover artist will receive:

• $1,000 artist payment

• Featured artwork on the cover of the upcoming Sow True Seed catalog

• An artist bio on the catalog’s front pages

• Highlighted features across Sow True Seed’s website, newsletter, and social media channels

Over the years, Sow True Seed has collaborated with hundreds of artists from local, regional, national, and global communities, creating a vibrant visual archive that reflects the diversity of growers and creators who support open pollinated and heirloom seeds.

Submissions for the annual Call to Artists are expected to open on February 1st, 2026 through March 1st, 2026. Full submission guidelines and application details will be available on the Sow True Seed website.
